Two in a Row…Hartley Named League One Manager of the Month for December

Back to news

We are delighted to confirm Paul Hartley has been voted the Glen’s Vodka League One manager of the month for December.

It’s the second month in a row Paul has picked up the top boss award for our division.

He has been recognised after what was an outstanding month in which we won all four of our League One fixtures.

We kicked things off with a 2-0 home win over Dumbarton, then beat Falkirk 3-0 away and ended the month with two home triumphs, 3-0 over Alloa Athletic and 4-2 over East Fife, to ensure we went into the New Year leading the table.

Our dream December also included a 3-0 Scottish Cup replay victory away to Championship side Queen of the South.

Paul said: “I’m delighted because this award as recognition of how well everyone involved with the club did during December.

“The fact it’s the second month we have won it underlines the consistency the players have shown, despite the continuing challenges every club is facing at the moment because of the Covid pandemic.

“We’ve been unable to pick the same side two games in a row, which has meant every player has done his bit and maintained high performance levels to help us win some very tough games.

“The players have actually been performing strongly since back in October, which is a testament to how dedicated and hard working they are.

“They’ve had to cope with some very difficult weather conditions, different types of playing surfaces and also changes in formation for specific games and have just taken it all in their stride.

“My coaching staff, our medical team, the directors and everyone else involved at the club also did their bit to ensure the players had all the support they needed to do as well as they did during December.

“I also want to give praise the Cove Rangers fans, particularly those who made the long midweek trek to Dumfries for the cup replay and also went to Falkirk just four days later.

“They made their presence known at both games and helped inspire the players to deliver two excellent performances.

“Our success in December was thanks to a real team effort and I can’t emphasise how important it is that we remain united as we go into what will be another testing spell for all of us.”
