Stuart McKenzie Testimonial Match

Back to news

The club is delighted to announce that the testimonial match for long-serving goalkeeper Stuart McKenzie will be against Dunfermline at Balmoral Stadium on Saturday, June 25th.

With a race night also being held at the stadium that day, fans will have ample opportunity to help recognise a club stalwart.

Stuart initially joined Cove Rangers in 2007, and after a brief stint with Montrose, returned to the club in 2015. He has been first choice keeper ever since.

A serial winner during the Highland League days, the thirty-four year old has since claimed medals from the pyramid play-off and SPFL League One and Two successes. He is now the joint most decorated player in the club’s history having matched the tally of 14 set by another Cove legend, Eric Watson.

Stuart’s testimonial year got off to a remarkable start when he scored the winner against Peterhead at Balmoor on January 2nd, and the celebrations continued with a dinner back in March.

He played a major part in the club’s latest promotion, keeping nineteen clean-sheets along the way, and his efforts were acknowledged when he was one of five Cove Rangers players named in the cinch League One team of the year.

Chairman, Keith Moorhouse, says Stuart deserves every bit of praise and recognition,

“He has been a wonderful servant to the club and shown incredible consistency over the years. His haul of medals tells you everything you need to know about Stuart. I hope as many of our fans as possible support the two events which are coming up”.

The game against Dunfermline kicks off at 1.00pm on Saturday, June 25th with tickets costing £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. Season ticket holders will be able to reserve their seats from Thursday, June 16th with the general sale beginning on Monday, June 20th.
