The build-up to our first campaign competing at Championship level gathered momentum when the players returned to pre-season training today.
Director of Football – and former manager – John Sheran helped out as fitness coach Tam Ritchie, goalkeeping coach Derek Soutar and first team coach Gary Hake put the squad through their paces at Balmoral Stadium.
The players and coaches were back working a week earlier than originally planned as we prepare for our first pre-season game, against Dunfermline Athletic.
The clash with the Pars, which is also long serving goalkeeper Stuart McKenzie’s Testimonial Match, is due to take place at Balmoral Stadium on Saturday June 25.
John said: “We are going to be competing at the highest level in the club’s history, so Tam, Derek and Gary agreed it would be better to get going a little earlier.
“There is also a desire among everyone at the club to do well on Stuart’s big day.”
The other home pre-season fixtures scheduled are against Highland League new boys Banks o’ Dee, on Tuesday June 28, and Gala Fairydean Rovers, on Saturday July 1.
We complete our build-up to the 2022-23 season with a visit to Premiership side St Johnstone, on Saturday July 9.
Our first competitive fixture is away to Albion Rovers, on Tuesday July 12, in the Group Stages of the Premier Sports Cup.
Our other group games in that competition are against Livingston (H, Saturday July 16), Kelty Hearts (H, Tuesday July 19) and Inverness Caledonian Thistle (A, Saturday July 23).
The full list of Championship fixtures are due to be released by the SPFL on Friday.
