Club captain Mitch Megginson is delighted long serving goalkeeper Stuart McKenzie will be honoured with a Testimonial Match against Dunfermline Athletic later this week.
Stuart first joined Cove Rangers in 2008 and is now our joint most decorated player alongside former skipper Eric Watson.
The Pars have kindly agreed to help honour Stuart in the game at Balmoral Stadium on Saturday.
It will be a fitting tribute to a club legend. Stuart has now collected fourteen winners’ medals and helped Cove all the way up from the Highland League to the Championship.
The match kicks-off at 1.00pm.
Speaking in his exclusive column for the souvenir testimonial programme, which will be on sale at the stadium, Mitch said: “It is is an honour to get this opportunity to pay tribute to Stuart.
“He is without doubt one of the greatest players in the 100 year history of Cove Rangers. In fact, you could argue he is THE greatest ever!
“The fact he is now right up there alongside the equally legendary Eric Watson underlines that.
“I’m happy to risk the wrath of Eric by claiming Stuart edges him out as Cove’s most successful player ever because his last two medals were claimed at SPFL level, when he helped us win the League Two and League One titles.”
“Hopefully we can make it a day to remember for Stuart and his family.”
