Inspirational Adam A Welcome Visitor

Back to news

We had a special visitor at Balmoral Stadium for the dramatic victory over Arbroath at the weekend, Banff teenager Adam Golebiewski enjoying the win with his family.

Adam was involved in a car crash in Macduff last September, tragically losing both legs in the accident, but has shown remarkable courage, and having had his prosthetics fitted is now out of his wheelchair and mobile again.

Cove goalkeeping coach Derek Soutar was touched by the tragedy last year and arranged for our keepers Nick Suman, Balint Demus and Jack Robertson to visit Adam while he was recovering in hospital. The youngster, himself a former Deveronside juniors goalkeeper, then came along for training at the stadium, helping the boys out with their drills.

Derek has kept in touch with Adam and the family since, and was thrilled to see them at the stadium on Saturday:

“I continue to be inspired by Adam’s bravery and determination, and we were all so pleased to see him at the game. He’s a brilliant boy, he really is, and he will be welcome here any time.”

Adam brought along a banner he had commissioned, thanking the club for supporting him, and was delighted to meet up again with Derek and our keepers, and manager Paul Hartley.

Everyone at Balmoral Stadium would like to wish Adam all the very best for the future, and we look forward to seeing him again soon.
